Panel to weigh SA oil and gas legislation

[miningmx.com] – A MINISTERIAL panel is to weigh up proposed oil and gas legislation with a view to deciding whether it encourages foreign investment, said Bloomberg News citing comments by mines minister, Ngoako Ramatlhodi in South Africa’s parliament yesterday.

“Oil and gas are new in our country so we need to apply our minds that whatever regime we take in the legislation can be sustained in good times and in bad,’ Ramatlhodi told members of the country’s mineral resources committee.

“We want to unlock investment as quickly as possible. We can’t wait. The development of upstream oil and gas industry will be a focus during the next five years,’ he is quoted to have said by Bloomberg News.
