Mined platinum supply lowest in 12 years

[miningmx.com] – MINED platinum supply slid to its lowest level in 12 years in 2012, said BDLive citing an annual review published by the UK’s Johnson Matthey which added the market had been pushed into a small deficit.

Platinum shipments from South Africa fell 16% to 4.1 million ounces representing a drop of 750,000 oz said BDLive, citing the report.

This created a market deficit of 375,000 oz and left primary platinum supply at some 5.64 million oz, it said.
