[miningmx.com] – THE South African government may deploy a peace keeping force after two National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) members were shot at Lonmin’s Western Platinum mine yesterday, BDLive reported.
NUM spokesman Lesiba Seshoka said: “We don’t want to jump to any conclusions but this does appear to be linked to calls made to close our offices and the court decision that we could keep our offices open.”
Lonmin’s share fell by as much as 7.8% on the day, recovering to a 7.1% fall by the close on the JSE.
