Northam Pt earnings up to 70% higher

[miningmx.com] – HIGHER sales volumes and an improvement in the basket price of platinum group metals (PGMs) would help Northam Platinum to as much as a 70% increase in year-end earnings, the company said.

The platinum firm’s earnings per share in the previous financial year came in at 81.2 cents and headline earnings per share were 80.9c.

In other positive new for the stock, the company said its Booysendal mine had been successfully commissioned by the end of June.

Commercial production had begun on July 1 while 15,000 ounces of platinum were produced in the commissioning phase of which 3,500 oz had been sold.

The miner said the rebuilding of the Zondereinde smelter was on track and during the rebuilding period a third party was toll-treating Zondereinde’s production.
