
[miningmx.com] – THE Association of Mineworkers & Construction Union (AMCU) has demanded some 1,000 workers fired at Glencore Xstrata’s South African chrome mines be reinstated, said Bloomberg News.
In a statement to reports, Joseph Mathunjwa, president of AMCU, said workers had been marginalised and that the company respond to the union’s demands in seven days. The demands were issued on June 28.
“Workers, they find themselves where they are, dismissed because of protesting against racism,’ Mathunjwa told reporters.
