SA facing up to three years of power deficit

[miningmx.com] – SOUTH Africa’s power supply deficit could continue for another two to three years, said BDLive citing comments made by President Jacob Zuma in the country’s parliament yesterday.

As a result, load shedding plans to ration insufficient supply would continue for up to three years, said Zuma who also defended earlier claims that apartheid was responsible for the shortage of power supply.

“Eskom added 160‚000 households to the grid in the past financial year‚ which added to the demand for electricity,” said Zuma. These were households that were “not supplied by apartheid,” he said.
