[miningmx.com] – CAPE Lambert Resources, an Australian-listed mining investment firm, said production at the Marampa iron ore mine in Sierra Leone had stopped following possible sabotage at the mine.
“The company has been made aware of issues by Timis Mining at the mine that appear to relate to sabotage, however we are yet to verify these reports,” Cape Lambert said in a statement today.
Timis Mining, which bought the Marampa mine following the bankruptcy of its developer, London Mining, is to pay a four-year royalty to Cape Lambert on iron ore revenues derived from the mine with some $1.7m due to date.
“The unforeseen issues at the Marampa mine are disappointing and we are hopeful they will be resolved soon and production will recommence,’ said Cape Lambert executive chairman, Tony Sage.
