
[miningmx.com] – PETRA Diamonds and Ekapa Mining are to jointly buy the Kimberley Mines tailings retreatment operations from De Beers for R102m, said BDLive.
Ekapa Mining, a Kimberley-based empowerment tailings treatment company, owns 50.1% of Ekapa Minerals, the name of the vehicle buying the De Beers assets, while Petra owns 49.9%, said BDLive.
The purchase price will be split between the two companies while Ekapa Minerals will inject R200m of working capital into the operations. Tailings in Kimberley have been exploited since 1978, said the publication.
