
[miningmx.com] – MARINE diamonds mined from Namibia out-price gems mined in Botswana and Zimbabwe many times over as they were spotless and did not disintegrate, said Bloomberg News.
Citing Namibia’s diamonds commissioner, Kennedy Hamutenya, Bloomberg News said Namibian diamonds sell for $450 to $700 per carat which compares to $150 per carat for diamonds mined in Botswana and $50 per carat for Zimbabwe diamonds.
“Namibia’s diamonds fetch the highest prices because they are of high quality, pure carbon, spotless and they don’t disintegrate,’ said Hamutenya. “What we don’t have in quantity is made up in quality.’
