Motlanthe may spur platinum wage talks

[miningmx.com] – SOUTH African deputy president, Kgalema Motlanthe, is to meet with the country’s mining sector on March 27, said Reuters.
Although the meeting is but the latest in a number of scheduled forums with the sector, it could nonetheless present the platinum sector with an opportunity to re-start wage talks with its dominant union, the Association of Mineworkers & Construction Union (AMCU), Motlanthe’s spokesman, Thabo Masebe, told Reuters.
Asked if issues around the strike would be raised, an industry source said the meeting would “cover all of these critical aspects”.
