Polluters to be criminally charged: report

[miningmx.com] – SOUTH African mining companies operating in the country’s Gauteng province would be found criminally liable if they were found responsible for polluting water, said Johannesburg-based Times newspaper citing a report by the province’s water affairs department.

The case may be complex because more than half the mining companies that could be responsible for the acid drainage have since closed, the Times said, citing Adam Gunn of Warburton Gunn Attorneys in Johannesburg.
