[miningmx.com] – ARCELORMITTAL South Africa (AMSA) is hoping to impose duties on Chinese imports of flat steel and long steel products, according to a Bloomberg News report republished in Business Report, a newspaper.
“The applications have gone in and we’ll see where that goes. In today’s economy, it’s a challenge to fight a product that is subsidised,’ AMSA CEO, Paul O’Flaherty is quoted to have said in the Bloomberg News article.
O’Flaherty, who was appointed on July 1, is seeking to achieve Amsa’s first annual profit since 2010 as it battles increases in electricity costs that exceed inflation, plant outages and weak demand domestically, said Bloomberg News.
