Amplats lines up 10 buyers for Union

[miningmx.com] – ANGLO American Platinum (Amplats) had lined up ten potential buyers for its Union mine which it wanted to sell for $300m, said Bloomberg News which cited people familiar with the transaction.

Potential bidders for Union mine, which is located in Rustenburg, included Northam Platinum and Sibanye Gold, said the newswire. Sibanye Gold said, however, that it and Amplats had differing views of what the platinum assets were worth. Standard Bank Group Securities valued Union at $281m in a note in November.

Amplats is also seeking to sell three other Rustenburg platinum shafts as well as its investments in two joint ventures. It said earlier this year it hoped to conclude the deals before the end of 2015.
