[miningmx.com] – A BLACK economic empowerment (BEE) deal worth R664m announced by Lonmin three months ago was at risk of being dissolved, said Business Times.
It cited a letter signed by the Bapo ba Mogale which will be handed to the High Court by the University of Cape Town’s Legal Resources Centre (LRC). The letter objects to the BEE deal because it took short cuts, said Business Times.
Lonmin spokeswoman Sue Vey said there were factions in the community in whose interest it was to see the BEE deal unravel. She added Lonmin had done all in its power to construct a transaction that was inclusive.
