[miningmx.com] – JOHANNESBURG and London-listed Tharisa Plc produced
33,000 ounces of platinum group metals from surface supplies in the second quarter ended March 31 assisted by record output of 12,874 (6E) PGM oz in March.
The improvement followed “… the changes made in the first quarter and continued progress in optimising our processing to improve PGM recoveries and deliver higher margin chrome concentrates,” the company said in an announcement. Chrome output totalled 305,000 oz for the quarter.
“Given continued depressed commodity prices, the focus has been on maximising PGM
recoveries and higher value add chemical and foundry grade chrome concentrates,” said Phoevos Pouroulis, CEO of Tharisa.
