Zuma to release Marikana findings end-June

[miningmx.com] – THE findings of the Marikana Massacre probe will be released before the end of June, said Reuters citing comments made by President Jacob Zuma in South Africa’s parliament yesterday.

“I know and appreciate the anxiety of those who are affected. However, it would be inappropriate for me to just release the report without applying my mind,” Zuma was quoted as having said.

Thirty-four miners were shot by police in 2012 at Marikana near the premises of Lonmin amid protests regarding wages and living conditions. Zuma received the findings of the inquest, chaired by retired judge Ian Farlam, at the end of March.
