Village Main seals deal on wage with NUM

[miningmx.com] – VILLAGE Main Reef signed an an across-the-board increase of R1,000 for all underground employees and R800 for surface employees represented by the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM).

Village Main was part of wage talks with the NUM and other unions including the Association of Mineworkers & Construction Union (AMCU) along with employers Evander Mines, Harmony Gold, Sibanye Gold and AngloGold Ashanti.

“We hope that the offer tabled by Village Main Reef is going to put more pressure on bigger gold mining companies to try and match the monetary value of the basic wage increase,” NUM General Secretary David Sipunzi said in a statement.
