DRC to welcome more Inga 3 bidders

[miningmx.com] – THE Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) said it was open to the idea of more groups of investors bidding to build its $12bn Inga 3 hydropower project with a decision on the winning group set for June or July next year.

Speaking to Bloomberg News, the DRC’s energy minister Bruno Kapandji said: “We’re open to other operators. The candidates are not closed.’

The bid groups comprise China Three Gorges Corp. and Sinohydro Corp.; Posco and Daewoo Corp. of South Korea in partnership with Canada’s SNC-Lavalin Group; and Actividades de Construccion y Servicios SA and Spain’s Eurofinsa Group, said Bloomberg News.
