Namibia uranium miners face cost hike

Langer-Heinrich mine, Namibia

[miningmx.com] – URANIUM miners in Namibia are facing steep increases in water costs, said Bloomberg News citing comments by Paladin Energy, an Australian-listed firm that operates the Langer Heinrich mine in the country.

There is a desalination plant operated by France’s Areva, but it is divesting from the country and wants to sell the plant to Namibia Water Corporation. Solomons said the corporation would pass the cost of the plant on to the uranium miners.
