Jubilee Metals’ Kabwe mining licence reinstated by Zambia

Leon Coetzer, CEO, Jubilee Metals Group

THE mining licence for Jubilee Metals’ Kabwe lead, zinc and vanadium project has been reinstated by the Zambian government after a number of project conditions were applied, including that plant commissioning begin three months after the licence grant.

“The execution of the project, which includes a lead, zinc and vanadium recovery circuit will be placed on an accelerated programme,” said Leon Coetzer, CEO of Jubllee Metals in an announcement to the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.

“Our project team continued working unabatedly on the execution of the project and we are confident that the time lines specified under the reinstatement conditions of the licence can be met,” he added. The project is being undertaken in joint venture with BMR Group.

Another condition of the mining licence grant is that first production from the project is achieved by the end of the 2018 calendar year.
