[miningmx.com] – ANGLO American has reached a cash settlement with 23 miners who contracted silicosis, a lung disease from exposure to silica dust, said Bloomberg News citing Khanyisile Kweyama, an executive director of Anglo American South Africa.
“Agreeing to settle this long-standing litigation is in the best interests of the plaintiffs, their families, Anglo American South Africa and its wider stakeholders,’ said Kweyama.
The company denies any liability in the class action proceedings, said Bloomberg News quoting a statement issued by Anglo American South Africa.
