[miningmx.com] – THE National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) said it may call a dispute in coal industry wage negotiations with the Chamber of Mines which it accused of ignoring its demand for a R3,000 per month salary lift.
The NUM also said it would not accept the three-year tenure of the offer which it believed the chamber had attempted to “sneak in”. The NUM last week rejected the chamber’s 5% to 6% wage increase offer.
“We once again call on the Chamber of Mines to respond specifically on this matter and stop patronizing us through its arrogance and ignorance,” the NUM said, adding that the union had made a number of concessions in order to agree a deal.
