Motsepe, Dangote to join $2bn clean energy fund

[miningmx.com] – Patrice Motsepe, executive chairman of African Rainbow Minerals, and Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man, were among those who would help fund clean energy research, said EWN Eyewitness News.

They would join a group of dollar billionaires, including Microsoft’s Bill Gates and George Soros in collectively donating $2bn to developing energy that doesn’t produce carbon. This was announced at the COP21 climate talks in Paris.

They call it Mission Innovation, a public/private partnership between governments, research institutions and investors that will direct personal investments and a new fund to be set up next year into seed funding for new technologies that could power the world, said EWN.
