
[miningmx.com] – HITACHI launched an urgent interdict preventing Eskom from imposing penalties after the boiler maker was found to be responsible for faulty welds at the Medupi power station project, BDLive reported.
The publication, citing comments in parliament, said Hitachi then settled with Eskom out of court agreeing no financial penalties would be applied provided Hitachi met a new deadline for completion of its contract. However, another company – Altsom – paid penalties for its late delivery.
The ANC’s investment company owns 25% of Hitachi.
