Lucapa takes sales of Angolan diamonds to $10.8m in 2018

AUSTRALIAN-listed Lucapa Diamond Company sold 2,072 carats of diamonds from its Lulo mine in Angola which it shares with the state-owned diamond company, Endiama, for gross proceeds of A$2.1m ($1.7m), the company announced.

This takes diamond sales to date this year to $10.8m at an average price per carat of $1,731. In respect of the latest diamond sales, an average price per carat of $804 was achieved. The largest diamond weighed 44 carats in the sale parcel, which also included a vivid pink of 1.9 carats, it said.

Meanwhile, the regular production of large Specials (+10.8 carat diamonds) has continued at Lulo, with the latest (post-sale) recoveries including Specials weighing 85 carats and 52 carats, the company said.
