Pan African concludes 3-year wage deal at Barberton Mines

PAN African Resources said it had successfully concluded a new three-year wage agreement with workers employed at its subsidiary, Barberton Mines.

Employees represented by the National Union of Mineworkers and the United Association of South Africa – the two major unions at the company – signed annual wage increases of 6.5% and 5.5% respectively. “The negotiations were successfully concluded with no industrial action or wage stoppages,” the company said.

The Minerals Council said earlier this week that wage negotiations were continuing between gold producers AngloGold Ashanti, Harmony Gold, Sibanye-Stillwater and Village Main Reef and the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU), Solidarity and UASA.
